Questions and answers
Speaker-created questions collect structured participation. They are separate from audience Q&A.
Choose a type
| Type | Audience input | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Text | A written response | “What would you like to learn today?” |
| Single Select | One configured choice | “Which tool do you use most?” |
| Multiple Select | Several configured choices | “Which topics interest you?” |
Text answers support up to 255 characters.
Configure a question
Choose Create Question (or New Question for an empty talk) to open the question editor. Use Edit on an existing question to open the same editor.
Like the talk editor, on large screens the question editor shows a settings card on the left and a separate Audience preview heading with a centered question card on the right. The settings scroll independently so the save button stays visible. On smaller screens, switch between the Edit and Preview tabs; your draft is preserved when switching. The preview updates as you type, and you can try the answer input without submitting or saving any answers. It previews the audience input, not the results chart.
Add the question text, input label, and placeholder. For selection questions, configure the choices and their values, and choose a bar or donut chart for results. Choose Create Question or Update Question to save. On smaller screens, return to Edit to save. Closing the editor without saving discards your draft.
Single-select inputs support a select or radio presentation. Multiple-select inputs support a multi-select or checkboxes, with minimum and maximum selection settings in the editor.
Choice values identify answers internally; choice text is the label people read. To remove a choice in the editor, hover over its number to reveal the trash icon and click it. You can also focus the number with the keyboard and activate it, or right-click the choice fields and choose Remove. Removal takes effect when you save the question.
To color all current choices at once, open Apply colors and choose Shades of talk color for a light-to-dark palette based on the talk’s accent color, or Multicolor for evenly spaced colors across the spectrum. This replaces existing choice colors without changing their labels or values. Add all your choices first, or apply the palette again after adding or removing choices.
For an individual adjustment, select the color swatch beside a choice to open the color picker. Colors are saved only when you create or update the question; opening an existing question does not recolor it.
Enable Allow text answers on a Single Select or Multiple Select question to accept written responses of up to 255 characters. It is off by default. Participants can choose Write a text answer instead of a single choice, or add a written response alongside multiple choices. A multiple-select submission can also contain only a written response.
Order and share
Reorder questions in the talk workspace to match your presentation. Ordering is separate from the question's number: moving a question does not renumber it.
Use the generated audience short link to direct people to a specific question. The talk must be running before people can answer.
Review results
Open a question to inspect its saved answers. Choose Live presenter results for a presentation-oriented view.
Written responses appear in the saved answers list. Choice counts include only configured choice values, not other written responses.
For multiple-select questions, one response can contribute to several choice counts. Do not interpret the sum of those counts as a count of people.
Edit safely
Existing answers are not converted when you change a question's type or choice values. Such changes can make historical answers difficult to interpret.
Prefer a separate question or duplicated talk for a new version once responses have been collected.
Clear or delete
Delete all answers permanently removes the question's saved responses while keeping the question.
Delete question permanently removes both the question and its answers. The interface requires confirmation; neither action can be undone.
